Overview

“Co.Co.Tour” Training/know-how exchange session on community tourism, accessibility and ecomuseum management held in Tricase on May 9th, 2019.

On May 9th, 2019, Magna Grecia Mare Association and the Municipality of Tricase in the role of the “Co.Co.Tour” partners, organized the first training/know-how exchange session with all relevant stakeholders of the Port Museum of Tricase. The meeting was held at one of the commercial activities of the port, which is one of the main meeting places of the port. The choice of this location was dictated by the desire to involve and reach as many people as possible, in addition to stakeholders expressly invited to take part in the meeting. This meeting location will also be affected by the infrastructural works planned by the Co.CO.Tour project.

Training and know-how exchange sessions are a way to empower stakeholders on ecomuseums progress in order to create a more genuine relationship between the tourists and the community. In addition, preparing them on accessibility standards and behaviours, reception and services with attention to specific targets (allergic people, foreigners, children, disabled people, etc.).

The session was organized and guided by experts Antonio Errico (President of Magna Grecia Mare Association), Gianfranco Cataldi (Technical Staff and Consultant), Carlo Martella (Consultant and Community network worker).

The concept of accessibility (as defined by OMS) was presented to all participants. More so, the handbook, which is being prepared by the accessibility expert and will be distributed among network stakeholder, was presented as well during this session.

In addition to the above, the current progress of the project was presented to community and stakeholders and the realization of the App was also discussed.

At the end of the session, the staff, stakeholders and the local community organized and enjoyed together a social dinner in collaboration with the “Yard of Taste”, involving all the restaurants of Port Museum of Tricase, at the grottoes around the small sandy beach in the port, the “SetteBocche” (Seven Mouths).

The "Co.Co.Tour" project aims at securing a smart, inclusive and sustainable growth of the coastal communities in the target areas through the development of a cross border eco-museum model and a common strategy focused on community tourism.
