CoCoTour project: Where accessibility meets art and culture
Overview

Making the project's promo video a unique experience

___

October is a remarkable month, October 9th celebrates the National Giving Day, a recurrence underlining the importance of accessibility for people with disabilities. On the other hand, October 10th marks the anniversary, in the distant 1892, of the writer and diplomat Ivo Andric.

Suppose you are wondering what accessibility Montenegrin coastal town Herceg Novi and this well-known writer have in common. The answer is in our CoCoTour project!

The only house of the famous novelist is located in Herceg Novi. CoCoTour project ensured restoration of the house, which will represent an eco-museum, an opening point into a community museum, and an authentic touristic offer of the local community of Herceg Novi.

Local Democracy Agency succeeded in gathering individuals, associations of citizens, businesses, and institutions to present themselves with their genuineness and with peculiarities of their activities. They all will be promoters of community museum that is not the bare sum of exhibition objects but rather represents the zeitgeist of Today's way of life of the community with presentation and preservation of historical and cultural heritage through crafts, legends, culinary, etc. Eco-museum based on the community tourism model will make visitors feel Herceg Novi and feel as part of its local community.

Agency's team spent the birthday of a recognized writer on the community museum's set-recording stakeholders that will be part of the project's promotion video. The material will also be incorporated into a smartphone application available to the visitors of Herceg Novi that presents five eco-museums in the Mediterranean area – Herceg Novi, Korfu, Himara, Tricase, and Mezzolonghi.

This time the video production happened on the points that marked the life of Ivo Andric in Herceg Novi or represented the spirit of the time he lived. We walked from his house that Municipality Herceg Novi as project partner rest. Buffet Beograd is often visited by the writer across many old town's stairs, former Boka Hotel Park to the famous promenade Pet Danica.

Special attention on this occasion was given to the one tower that depicts life in Andric's era and is also part of the cultural heritage represented in the community museum,Villa Galeb.  In that time, all communities could give and produce their best, so here you can find the best from the Brac Island, best Macedonian weaving and tapestry, best crafted furniture, etc. It survived a devastating earthquake in 1979 and still defies the tooth of time being visited by many people from the region.

Certain of the community museum's marked points of interest will be accessible for people with disabilities, whether the disabilities are permanent or temporary.   Within the CoCo Tour project, LDA will organize training on accessibility for the tourism subjects and stakeholders. Training is designed in cooperation with Magna Grecia Mare project partner organization from Tricase.

“Co.Co.Tour” project is co-financed by the European Union under the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPAII) Cross Border Cooperation Italy - Albania - Montenegro.
