The restoration of the ancient tank
Overview

The recovery works of the ancient tank of the Port of Tricase have restarted this week.

The lockdown imposed in the first days of March 2020, to contain the spread of the Covid-19 virus in Italy had led to a total block of the activities also on construction sites.

The works have now restarted at the internal flooring of the cistern. Also, the construction of the lift has started which will allow going directly to the quay from Piazzetta San Nicola, located just above the structure.

In the meantime, the Municipality of Tricase, partner of the project together with the Magna Grecia Mare Association, are planning and defining the systems and equipment that will be installed inside the tank to make it a truly attractive access point to the Port Museum of Tricase.

Thanks to the multimedia totem that will be installed inside, the tank will allow acquiring the initial information before the visit. In this way, tourists and visitors will be able to better appreciate the visit to the eco-museum structures. They will learn some basics about the history of the port and the city. Also, schedules events and other similar information will be provided.

The lift will ensure the physical accessibility of the new structure, while the technologies and narrative styles used in the totem and the app being developed, will also contribute to making the contents accessible.

The "Co.Co.Tour" project aims at securing a smart, inclusive and sustainable growth of the coastal communities in the target areas through the development of a cross border eco-museum model and a common strategy focused on community tourism.

The project is co – financed by the European Union under the Instrument for Pre –Accession Assistance (IPA III), Interreg IPA Cross Border Cooperation Italy – Albania – Montenegro.
